My favourite track is probably 'Amazon Love', but I couldn't find that anywhere to put on here, so this is another brilliant one, 'Barnacled Warship.'

Right now I'll try and talk about something interesting....

I think Sleigh Bells are quite cool.

(the band not the .. jingly things..)

I suppose their stuff is sort of.... noise pop? but with a tinge of hip-hop..

so, if you have read this blog at all before, you may notice it doesn't sound like my usual musical cup of tea!!

all their songs are energetic, with super catchy riffs - chaotic, spiky guitar with pop princess vocals over the top.

Winner.

here's one, "rill rill", which is somehow not quite as angular as some of their other songs, it's actually just quite a sweet song, with a well-used sample from Funkadelic's classic 'can you get to that', and I love the bit in the middle when it breaks down into just singing and percussion. PRETTY SICK MAN

And if you liked that, this one is what I meant by 'spiky', 'angular' etc, be prepared to be blown away by the angry start to this song, but dayuummm it's catchy and the vocals just contrast so brilliantly.

So that's enough from me for this evening..

Stornoway

A band hailing from Oxford, whom I currently adore.

And apparently they are rather enchanting live, with cello, violin et cetera

And I do believe they will be playing at Camp Bestival in Dorset where I will be spending my birthday this year!!

The Midnight Beast

some may remember their parody of Ke$has 'tik tok', which was brilliant

and pretty much anything they do is brilliant

I mean no offense to anyone by posting this, by the way!

And if you need an excuse to watch it, it really is a brilliant satire on 'the modern pop song', with nice use of autotune, rap sections et al. And yet, to be honest, these three are just as much musicians as they are comedians; this song is worryingly very catchy - worrying in the sense that it's probably not the best tune to sing to yourself as you go about your day to day lives. Listen to it and you'll understand what I mean.

Is it time for me to do one of those really long posts with random pictures/songs/pointless ramblings about my life because I've finally found the time to blog now that I'm home for the first time in four weeks?

Oh ok then, dear friends, if you verily insist, I shall proceed to do exactly that.

I've been attempting to revise of late.

This girl seems to have got the wrong end of the stick; it is not enough, from my experience, to lean elegantly against the bookshelves, in order to gain knowledge one must read them. Shame really, this would be far less time consuming.

My love for Bombay Bicycle Club is back with a vengeance now that the first single from their forthcoming acoustic album, 'Flaws', has come out, called 'Ivy and Gold.' The fact that they can debut with an incredibly tight album of super catchy indie rocky tunes then produce this sort of a mellow contrast less than a year later proves how damn good this band is. This song's beautiful, slightly Mumford-esque, but with dear Jack Steadman's instantly recognizable vocals setting it all off with a slightly different edge from M & Sons. Here it is, live from Bristol. Ecoute!

I'm liking these beautiful photos from a Keller NY ad campaign a lot..

Also moderately obsessed with this song at the moment. Very good, especially when in headphones & loud.

I like the video too. It's funny, as I think it's meant to be, but then also in a way very lonely.

Anyone remember my obsession with pink hair a few posts back?

Well I did what I said I would.. and bought a wig :)

Bright pink, long, blunt fringe...

I'm in love.

When I take it off it makes my normal blondeish hair feel very boring.

I'm always toying with the idea of making it a bit lighter...
